One Column

The design is a single column, not too wide so it should fit most viewports well, and will scale down for smartphones. We all know more and more folks are viewing email on their smartphones, so out with the old, in with the responsive! Remember, Gotham is the university’s primary typeface, so indicate that in your inline styles with our Responsive HTML Emails.

The Gotham typeface was initially commissioned by GQ magazine in 2000, whose editors wanted to display a sans-serif with a "geometric structure" for their magazine. GQ agreed that they needed something "that was going to be very fresh and very established to have a sort of credible voice to it."

Since creation, Gotham has been highly visible due to its appearance in many notable places. This has included Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign (early materials in Obama's campaign did use the serif Perpetua before switching) and on the cornerstone of the One World Trade Center, the tower built on the site of the former WTC in New York.
